The committees have decided to award the Qin-Jiu-Shao Prize for 2023 to Mahmoud Abdel-Aty of the Sohag University, Egypt.

Mahmoud Abdel-Aty is a professor of Sohag University, Egypt. In 1999, Abdel-Aty completed his doctorate in Quantum Optics from the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics in Munich, Germany.
Professor Abdel-Aty is recognized for his significant contributions in the fields of quantum algorithms and quantum optics. Moreover, he and coauthors developed the widely-known Yang-Abdel-Aty-Carlo fractional derivative operator in general fractional calculus, which is a new branch of fractional calculus.
Professor Mahmoud Abdel-Aty, elected as a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in 2012, has received multiple local and international awards. These include the Incentive State Award for Advanced Technology Sciences, the State Award of Excellence for Basic Science, the State Encouragement Award for Mathematics, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize (The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Award for Arab Researchers in Mathematics and Computer Sciences), and the Fayza Al-Khorafy Award, Third World Academy’s Prize in Mathematics by ICTP, Italy, among others.
In 2014, Mahmoud Abdel-Aty was elected as a vice-president of the African Academy of Sciences. In 2018, he was elected as a President of National Committee for mathematics. In 2022, he was elected as a Vice-President of African Mathematical Union. In 2023, Abdel-Aty was elected as a Vice-President of Egyptian Mathematical Society.

The committees have decided to award the Yang-Hui Award for 2023 to Salvatore Capozziello of Università di Napoli Federico II, Italy, Mahouton Norbert Hounkonnou of University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin, and Delfim F. M. Torres of University of Aveiro, Portugal.
