2024 The International Symposium on

Applications of Machine Learning in the Development of Deep Energy: Recent Advances and Future Challenges

As mineral resources in the Earth's shallow layers gradually diminish, deep energy extraction has increasingly become the norm. In deep energy extraction, the complex environment characterized by "high temperature, high pressure, and high in-situ stress,"   along with strong disturbances,   leads to frequent engineering disasters that are difficult to predict and effectively control. In recent years, the indepth development of a new round of technological revolution, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning, have gradually permeated various aspects of deep energy extraction, addressing issues such as predicting the mechanical properties of deeprock masses, inverting complex deep in-situ stress fields, forecasting rock   bursts and microseisms in deep mines, optimizing hydraulic fracturing designs for deep rock formations, providing early warnings for dynamic pressure risks, and analyzing the stability of surrounding rock in deep geological settings.

The symposium aims to invite world renowned scholars in related fields to report their recent high-quality progress on the application of machine learning in deep energy extraction, and highlight possible future research directions from their professional insights, providing a first-class communication platform for researchers engaged in theoretical research, numerical calculation, and software development. This special issue is highly appreciative of submissions of research on the application of machine learning in the development of deep energy.

Potential topics included, but are not limited to:

  • The development trend and Frontier Exploration of deep energy extraction

  • Deep multi-field coupling analysis based on PINN

  • Data dimensionality reduction and modal analysis

  • Machine learning and deep rock creep

  • Machine learning and hydraulic fracturing

  • Microseismic event prediction, risk warning of rock burst, and stabilitanalysis of surrounding rock in deep extraction
